Abstract:
This paper develops the issue of nonviolence focusing on the negative form of the word.
This negative nature is often considered a sign of a missing positive elaboration (non-violence). On the contrary, we regard it as a clue that opens a different glance on the concept itself (nonviolence). In our perspective, nonviolence does not consist in the negative of its opposite, so that non-non-violence would be violence.
The paper refers to the communicative structure of game, as outlined by Gregory Bateson, to show that the word nonviolence suggests the existence of a dynamic, meaningful connection between nonviolence and violence. A connection from which nonviolence takes its beauty, strenght and ontological substance.
